Let me clue you in, firefox is a standards compliant browsers, so if you don't follow standards your site won't look right when properly rendered, so there are no tricks and hacks for firefox. It's one of the better browsers out there. I'm not saying you don't have the right to hate it for one reason or another, but please, do not assume things.

Wao, guys... thats why we have the right to choose, theres always something for everyone. Stop complaining and get real because if the guy dont like firefox, its up to him, not you. I dont like firefox either nor ie. While firefox is great (the best) as a design testing companion it sucks to just browse the internet. Thats why i prefer to browse using Safari. firefox for testing enviroments and Safari as my vehicle.

yeah... firefox has it's own rule, and ie, safari, opera and so on... i just try to use opera to do all my web projects now. safari is not bad but i use windows much often than mac. troubling in firefox is not just the question as i said before. it don't like it's way u know.

Okey, I got an example for you to tell you why IE sucks. I was making an page, and had it aligned to center with margin, It worked for the content but when I added the divs inside of an div it didn't align center, the same code ffs!! In firefox it shows up the right way.
So please! PLEASE! get your facts straight.
And since you code IE pages these will break in IE 7 since they have fixed alot of those bugs.

Dude, you're an idiot. For a start W3C are guidelines NOT rules, so a browser does not have to be compliant. Also I use IE and firefox and have no problem with either. Being a web designer and programmer for a living, I think you'll find I know how to code a page, everything I've ever written W3C or not, has worked perfectly in both browsers.

Your problem is you can't code.

Though yeah, Cool_Guy IE7 does rule, though I will continue to use both equally as I'm neither pro or anti either.

Dude you talk crap. firefox is better suited to W3C as it was designed with that in mind. IE was designed before the latest revision and isn't as compatible.

IE currently has the larger market share as it is bundled with Windows, and most inexperienced and non-technical users will use that. Where as I use several browsers when I am developing in the workplace. And everything I have done recently works on Opera, Netscape, firefox, Safari, IE6 and IE7.

At the end of the day, what matters is accessibility, and you're an idiot for not liking a browser that actually HELPS with W3C compliancy and debugging, as opposed to IE which just..doesn't.

Also, you can't not like a browser you know nothing about.

We've seen what you speak of from both sides of the camp in this one, I'm afraid, most notably the developer who created a plugin because he hates a browser...

I use FF simply because I'm on linux and the development community is much larger than for Opera. When I used Windows, I still used FF exclusively for browsing because I use a lot of the plugins(adblock +, session saver, gmail notifier, googleprefs(stripping text ads) and I also like to get my updates & bugfixes in a timely manner. When I was on Windows, I didn't like the updates packaging bullshit like messenger, the updates that started blocking things that Microsoft felt wasn't safe with no quick way to disable it, etc.

I like FF, but at the same time, it'd be foolish to say that you can't develop for IE. It's the big browser, and you're shorting your viewers if you don't make sure that your site works well in all browsers. Although I don't care for it personally, I'd never spend the time making a plugin to show my distaste. Seems a little silly to me.

Thank you. I agree with you, firefox is a terrible browser and they should have never tryed to replace IE. I only use firefox because other people pressure me to do it and many people think it is kool - mainly the n00bs.

I went to a pc shop recently, and they had all agreed that firefox sucks, and i dont think that it is a good idea to continue using a buged browser.

I think that this is one of the best plugins, and i might add it to my site if i knew what it did.

heh, ignore that last statement, i am uploading the plugin now and will be active soon.

I installed Wordpress on my server, and set up a site. It's a relly nice piece of software. However, I am missing a piece of functionality, and

couldn't find a suitable answer for it. Mayou you know a plugin I could use?I need to automatically inserts ads in my posts.And not AdSense ads, but rather HTML snippets defined by me (affiliate links, etc). Let's say I would insert a tag in my post:

and the plugin would automatically replace it with some HTML code, when the post is displayed on my site.I really don't need any fancy configuration options etc, just the basic replace functionality.
Do you know a plugin that can handle this?

firefox is not such a good browser as some people say. It's in fact a lame browser in my oppinion, as IE does. The good thing about firefox are those extensions system. I'd rather use IE instead though.

Ok after reading your debate I was wondering, how many of you are American. Accepting another Person views is not always your strongest side. Ok don’t get mad at me I don’t mean that judicious it is just that as a European (Swiss – Depends who you ask they would argue that we are not Europeans) we only hear what your President says. :) Ok I am waiving off here but keep reading. Luckily the Web is big enough for more then one view and or Browser. What would the world be like if we all look like Bill Gates? Or how will the world look like if we all look like the geeks that work on firefox? (At least here we would be a diverse group – Props to the Community)

Being philosophical enough I do prefer Internet Explorer. Why? Because it is a Standard! Stop don’t flame me for this one I am not talking about the W3C Standard but the Standard for all Microsoft OS. Not fair? Maybe! Microsoft does a good job in Omnipresence. And if you look in Detail and accept that there are Microsoft Webservers (I am using Apache of course) and or some strange looking Microsoft code (Windows Update, Microsoft Update, Sharepoint, etc.) that will never run on firefox or Co. you understand that they have a need to spread there Browser, Otherwise there Software will not work. Make out of that what you want. Feature VS Security is a Problem that all the Browsers face.

Being Philosophical again, accepting another point of view will not lessen ones own view but enhance it with vital information. That’s just my five Cents.

Flame away if the Author of this Great Plug-in allows that. Don’t have a use for the Anti-firefox Plug-in but anyone Programming for the Public is a Hero in shining Silicon in my Eyes. Great Work and that goes for everyone on this Blog. Only if we share we can learn.

I do have to write one more thing. I know I am stretching everyone’s Patient here but I am not some spaced out Hippie or uptight Business Man. I am just Swiss. With that I will leave you. See you out there.

I should point out that it's trivial to dodge 99% of browser-specific stuff by using the User Agent extension for firefox.

In my case, I never test for IE compatibility because Microsoft doesn't release IE for Linux or BSD. However, I do make sure my site works with Gecko-based browsers (the fox, Camino, Seamonkey, K-Meleon, etc.), Opera, KHTML (Used in Konqueror and ancestor of Safari's WebKit core), Dillo, Links, and Lynx.

For browsing though, I'll be using Konqueror like I always do. Unlike firefox, It's got decent memory management and passes the ACID2 CSS test. It doesn't support richtext text fields (no WYSIWYG HTML editing for GMail, WordPress, and MoinMoin), but hey, no biggie.

First off, firefox is an excellent browser. Also, Opera is a great choice. The ONLY place and reason I use IE is at work because we have to by company policy.

That being said, when I code sites I make sure that the site renders properly in firefox, IE and Opera (I also check it in Amaya). Anyone who has coded for multiple browsers knows that you first make it look good in firefox - it will also then look good in Opera - and then you go about trying to hack into your CSS to add IE specific "tricks" to make it look right. If you spend any time at all coding HTML, PHP or ASP, you know about IE's shortcomings with the box model - it simply renders margins, paddings and borders wrong (at least according to W3C). Also, I'd like to know what you mean by "firefox has its own rule"; firefox is not completely W3C compliant, but it is close.

Also, you have it exactly backwards... many sites are coded specifically for IE. Microsoft's own site comes to mind, but there are many websites out there that have the "best viewed in IE" button somewhere. I attribute that to lazy coders.

Yes, we all agree that IE is the biggest player among the browsers. However, that doesn't make it the best choice. WalMart is the biggest retailer out there, but there are things that I simply will not buy from WalMart even though they offer them. The reason IE became the biggest player is the law suit that began in 1998 which MS lost and Netscape won (posthumously) in 2001 that was about illegally bundling IE with Windows 98. MS even said that it was impossible to extract IE from the OS; many of us know better. Just look up XPLite, 2000Lite or 98Lite to find out the truth about that.

ifantax - How is firefox and/or Mozilla spreading FUD about IE? They don't report security holes or spyware. Companies like Secunia, Symantec and McAfee do. There is NOTHING on their website or in their news releases that talk down IE in the context you take. Yes, they say their product is better, but what company wouldn't say their product is better? And, by the way, there are fewer exploits hitting firefox and Opera together than IE.

Robert - I'd like to know what "pc shop" you went to so I know where NOT to go. Every computer professional I know prefers firefox for personal browsing, and I work in tech support for a Fortune 500 company.

Swiss420 - IE is not a standard. (And telling a lie often enough doesn't make it a truth) It may be a de facto standard because of its popularity. However, once there was a board of control in place and they began publishing standards (the W3C), Microsoft should have followed the published standards. In fact, they ignored them and continue to try to sway the W3C to their "standard".

The one thing I find the most ironic about this plugin is that WordPress and its programmers are huge supporters of firefox. (Both WordPress and firefox are open source software) Each of the WordPress coders has a firefox button on their blog. If I were a WordPress coder I'd take that as a slap in the face.

I think this guy has some major problems. I don't like IE due to the fact it messes up CSS while firefox cooperates with it. If IE used the same CSS parsing as firefox we'd all be happy yet it doesn't and that causes major complications.

IE does have some cool `Features` Such as blurring images and whatnot, but that can also be done through JS with firefox so in the end, FF is the better choice.

Better parsing, Better Coding, Better plugins, themes, and more. I used to code my sites in IE therefore I liked ie until I found they didn't look right in firefox. So I'd code in firefox and then they'd fuck up in IE so, Well now if somethings fck'd up in IE I just tell the guests that IE users may experience some fck'd up shit.

So hats off to the kid who hates `firefox so fucking much i made an anti-firefox plugin to show that im a douchebag` Which Probably has been said or thought before I typed it in.

I used to love firefox.

Now it pisses me off no-end. like a big fat bloated pile of bollocks.

I use Linux. i have stripped all the crap out of it. It still eats my fucking memory.

firefox started as such a wonderful, slim, speedy browser - a breath of fresh air some might say - but as it has been developed, bugs fixed, and had all the un-necessary crap added to it over the last few years, it has become one of the worst browsers around.

It hurts to say that.

firefox could be the best browser available, but as long as there are proper programmers in the worls that create browsers like Opera, then firefox has absolutely no chance in hell of being the "best browser".

Plus, everyone has their own uses - so each person has their own favourite browser. Mine being Opera.

...And to all the knobheads out there that just can't get over their own bullshit: Yes, IE _does_ actually suck - and firefox is catching the fucking thing up the way it is going.

Get a Life. Get Opera.
